The Word of the Day / By Oladele Sivells

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

I feel like our natural inclination is to always worry about things and try to fix them ourselves. But I'm learning as I get older and as I mature, to stop in my tracks and pray. When I pray, it gives me a sense of humility. I realize that I don't have everything under control. Somebody is in control however, and that somebody that's in control is my trusted guide.

Prayer also helps me reevaluate the situation, see things from God's perspective and what He wants me to do. Don't worry about anything, instead pray about everything. I think the only way to get to that point is to invest that time with the Lord, and really getting to know Him so you can know Him on a relationship level, not on a religious level. In order to be on a relationship level with God, it involves spending time in the Word, praying with others, learning scriptures and memorizing scriptures.

So I just want to recommend that to you, invest that time in the Lord. So when things happen, when adversities do come our way, the first thing we want to do is pray whether it's big or small. Have a blessed day and enjoy this weather.
